The Ridge Runner Arena Care Committee was formed as a fundraising effort to hlep with immediate roof repairs needed on the rink buildings in order to keep it open and running, as well as with future maintenance and improvements.
The Ridge Runner Arena is more than just an ice surface, it is truly a four- season facility, and the hub of our community. It is the year-round home of Peggy’s Canteen where the regular coffee crew meets and excellent food is served to all. In the winter, the Ridge Runner Arena hosts the Springside Skating Club, Rec Hockey teams, youth hockey teams, free public skating, the winter physical education program for the Springside School and so much more. Spring brings indoor soccer and lacrosse. Other off-season events include weddings, family reunions, SK Trappers Association Rendevous, dog obedience training, indoor drive-in movies and so many other community events.
Facilities such as this are crucial for our small community in so many ways. It is the central location for community members of all ages to congregate and enjoy the many activities associated with the building. Long term community survival is also aided by having facilities, such as the Ridge Runner Arena, open and available to residents of the Town of Springside as well as the surrounding rural municipalities and communities.
Immediate repairs to our building are focused on the roof and structure. Currently the repairs are quoted at $30,000 but this is a minimum to simply try to save the building. The cost for a complete roof repair is in excess of $100,000. Also, as with any structure, there is a constant need for maintenance and a desire for improvement and upgrades.
The Springside Ridge Runner Arena Care Committee has decided to host a “Hearts & Wallets” fundraising event on Saturday, October 21, 2023.
The event will be family friendly, have supper available, live and silent auctions, 50/50 draws as well as many other fun things for adults and children to do and see. We will be asking our friends, families and neighbours to open their “Hearts & Wallets” to help save the rink. We have set an interim fundraising goal of $50,000 but we will need a lot of help and community involvement to achieve this target.
To achieve our goals, we are looking for:
· join the committee to help with planning and running the event;
- monetary donations;
· new items of any size and value for auctions and prizes;
· in kind donations that will help us make our event an incredible success;
· or any other way you see fit to support our cause;
· tax receipts are available for supporters;
. attend the event with your heart and your wallet open for the Ridge Runner Arena!
Sponsorship levels are as follows and will be recognized in all promotional materials, at the event itself and in post event advertising.
Bronze Donations valued at $100 - $499
Silver Donations valued at $500 - $999
Gold Donations valued at $1,000 - $4,999
Platinum Donations valued at $5,000 plus
It is our desire to recognize higher value sponsorships in the manner to which the donor expects, so please communicate expected recognition to the committee member who has delivered this letter so those expectations are fully realized.
Our committee members are more that happy to pick up your donation items. Alternatively, the donation drop-off schedule at the Springside Ridge Runner Arena will be:
Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm
